The Isle of Hades

So, getting back to that island....

What if you were stuck with songs, books, and movies that you HATED.

Wouldn't that be a little slice of hell?

Your iPod has survived your shipwreck...you are alone on a deserted island with the clothes on your back and a very special solar-powered iPod. But, alas, somehow in the mayhem your iPod was switched and worse, it suffered enough trauma that it only has three songs, three ebooks, and three movies that survived the ocean tumble. And you hate all of them. What are they?

Songs:

Sususudio by Phil Collins

Teach Your Children by Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young

Locomotion by Kylie Minogue

Movies:

Batteries Not Included (dunno why I hate, but I do)

Speed II

Lost in Translation (I got, um, lost in translation too)

Books:

I know there are some I've thrown against a wall, but I'll be dipped if I can remember them. Hopefully someone will jog my memory with their choices.

  2. I think after a while, you'd start to like them. Like some kind of weird Stockholm syndrome.

I agree with Kristen. That being said I like the locomotion.

Songs that make my skin crawl?
    1) Celine Dion- My Heart Will Go On. I like Celine, diva has some AMAZING pipes. But even hearing the intro to that song make me want to scream.

    2) Whitney Houston- Greatest Love of All. She ALSO has an extraordinary voice but that song just sux.

    3) John Mayer- Your Body is a Wonderland. Nooooooooooooooooooooo

  4. HAHAHAHAHA nice topic idea! Here are songs I'd vomit over if I were stuck with them:

"Follow Me" by Uncle Kracker (yes, I know a lot of people love this song. I hate it. LOL)

"Summertime" by NKOTB (that new one they came out with. That song makes me want to gouge my own eyes out).

"Celebration" by...I don't remember. LOL. Kool and the Gang? Anyway, we played it so much in high school band that I loathe it now.

I'm gonna have to think about the movies and books...I know there are some I couldn't stand. LOL

  5. LOL, good topic.

    Music:
Where Have All the Cowboys Gone (by some whiny chick)
Stairway to Heaven (after all these years, it bores me to death)
Pines of Rome by Respighi (nails on a chalkboard)

    Movies:
    Leaving Las Vegas
    Seven
    Hellraiser

    Books:
    Ulysses by James Joyce
Critique of Pure Reason by Immanual Kant
(for the third, any number of depressing, fatalistic, senseless titles will do)

  6. LOLOL okay, I thought of a book:

Moby Dick (HAAAATED this story, LOL)

And here are the 3 movies that would torture me:

Two Week's Notice (I'm probably in the minority, but I thought Bullock and Grant had NO chemistry, and the whole poop scene made me vomit in my mouth, LOL)

The Black Dahlia (I was bored to tears, and the acting was wooden)

Tremors 2 (I actually liked the first one with Kevin Bacon, but the second was HORRID)

I'm sure there are a lot more, but those are the 3 that come to mind right now. haha

  7. I was really disappointed by "Two Weeks Notice" too. And yeah...I didn't think digestive problems were romantic in "French Kiss", and I didn't change my mind in "Two Weeks". Sad, because I love Sandra Bullock and Hugh Grant.

There is never going to be a time when Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young don't make my skin crawl. I don't think Stockholm Syndrome ever met Gwen Hayes.

And B.E.--I, too, hate that cowboy song.

oh and "Tom's Diner"! I think I would rather listen to "Sususudio" than "Tom's Diner" by Suzanne Vega.

  8. Oh, I love Sussudio! And Two Week's Notice. :-)

Though I agree with Dana on hating The Greatest Love of All! :-)

    Okay, mine might be:

    SONGS:

    1) that song by Jewel where the eggs make a smiley face

    2) Revolution #9 (can I even count it as a song?)

    3) any song where some guy is singing about how all the hot babes just pant for him...dude, even if they do, which I doubt, it's just cuz you're rich, so it's not really something you should be bragging about

    MOVIES:
    1) Down to You
    2) Wing Commander
    3) Fear Dot Com

    BOOKS:
    um...
    1) Deenie (sorry! I know most folks love it! But all I saw was some gorgeous popular girl who was annoyed that she didn't get the cheerleader slot she knew was hers by rights...) (Yeah, I know, that's my nerdish resentment coming out.)

    2) a Regency that shall remain nameless where the rich heroine pretended to be poor, moved to London, got a flat (alone), did all her own shopping, cooking and cleaning (no servants), and also got a full-time job. Sigh. (Why in the world was that not set in the modern era?)

    3) Walden (which seemed to me about as real in its "let's live with nature" thing as Marie Antoinette.)
