My brother is currently visiting me, along with his two kids who are 2 1/2 and 5, so the subject of bedtime stories has come up. Especially when Aunt Kristen had no child appropriate books to offer.
Bad aunt.
We're going to the store today to rectify that, but it got me thinking about my favorite bedtime story of all time: Bears In The Night. My brother and I could recite that book by heart, backwards and forwards as kids. In fact, I don't think that book survived my brother's childhood because it basically fell apart. Just looking at the cover gives me warm fuzzies.
What was your favorite bedtime story?
I don't really remember any bedtime stories...I mostly read to myself. I remember the book "There's a Monster at the End of This Book" and LOVED it, even though it kind of freaked me out. LOL
ReplyDeleteI don't remember mine but for my kids it was Goodnight Moon. We all loved it.
ReplyDeleteMine go in spurts. Mercer Mayer is a favorite and Goodnight Moon when they were little. Right now we read from a Raising Readers book we got.
ReplyDeleteThe one Nick Nolte told Eddie Murphy in 48 Hours is my favorite.
ReplyDeleteI always loved Madeline! Little Grandma would read it to me in french. bliss!
ReplyDeleteHmmm, I don't remember. But I used to read a friend's kid Where The Wild Things Are. I think I liked it more that the kid.
ReplyDeleteI used to love a Sesame Street one, I think it was something about Cookie Monster and the Cookie Tree.
ReplyDeleteMy own daughter loves Diary of a Worm and Diary of a Fly and Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus. :)
I make them up and put the kids into them. They LOVE it.
ReplyDeleteSide note-- anyone see the preview for the WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE movie?
drooooooooooooool
I loved Madeline, or anything by Dr. Seuss.
ReplyDeleteChrissy, I saw the preview recently -- looks intriguing! Though what the plot will be I don't know...
I self-read also. From age 4.
ReplyDeleteI do remember when I read to the kids I would sometimes skip pages. It didn't take Hayes Jr. too long to figure that one out.
That's so sweet. :-) I don't remember getting any stories.
