What's your daredevil level?

I consider myself a risk taker. I'll talk to just about anyone, say just about anything. I'm not afraid to stand out in a crowd (and often do when I'm wearing heels) and be noticed. I'm a culinary risk taker too - there's not much I wouldn't at least taste once. I've traveled to a lot of interesting places, including Morocco, where I got my picture taken in the kasbah with a snake around my neck - something neither my husband or my dad would do.

However, when it comes to physical risk taking, I'm more likely to be on the sidelines. I've been white water rafting and deep sea snorkeling, but that was at a fairly young age. I'd rethink even those things now. Bungee jumping? Not a chance. Skydiving? No way.

How about you? What level of risk do you stop at? What's the riskiest thing you've done?

  1. You've been to Morocco? How cool is that?
I'm the opposite of you. I try to hide(unless it's something I feel strongly about)and won't taste something if it looks gross. But physical stuff? Bring it on! I loved skydiving and white water rafting. WooHoo! :-)
However, like you, I do stand out when I wear heels, 'cause I'm tall. I guess you are too.

  2. I'm not too big a risk taker especially as I get older. Too much at stake. I now rethink the roller coasters because I don't want whiplash. What a wimp. I'd never do bungee jumping or sky diving either. Now tasting things I guess a small taste of most things for a try.

  3. I don't know if I'm necessarily a risk taker, but when I was 21 I packed up my little car and drove to The Keys to live on a sailboat for a while. I love trying new things. I'm like you, I'll try eating anything once (including slimy bugs). Ate slug like creatures in the Outback ;) They tasted like almonds. Weird. I definitely don't mind trying new things. Would try bungee jumping. However, I don't think I could get up and sing karaoke. The thought makes me shudder.

  4. We'll have to compare notes on Morocco. :-)

I do have a daredevil streak in me, to a point. I've been sky diving and scuba diving. I was supposed to go bungee jumping in New Zealand (but got sick that day) I've gone white water rafting a few times. Have hiked with crampons and ice picks on a glacier, jumping over huge crevasses... Done some fairly extreme skiing... And while I've never done real rock or mountain climbing... I've been on some very scary hikes where one slip would send you tumbling 5000 feet straight down.

Sadly, I think this streak is over. I iz gettin owld. :-(

  5. Skydiving, SCUBA, Bungee, Extreme Paintballing, Hang Gliding, Spy Rigging, repelling from a building and the side of a mountain, Low-level flights, waterfall climbing/jumping, boot camp, and having kids...that's just up to now. Who knows what's yet to come:o)

  6. Um.
no to risky danger and no to risky dangerous foods.

I did go driving with my two teen daughters in driver's ed. That was exciting.

And sometimes they read the blog, which means I took another risk just now by mentioning them online.

  7. I've always been known as the Wild One in my group of friends.
I don't consider myself wild. I know my limits. I just like to bump right up to the edge and dangle over the teensiest bit now and then.

My motto is "Never say no to an adventure."

  8. Once upon a time I was a bit of a daredevil and traveled a lot. Nowadays my physical limitations make that impossible.

So I play the lottery. ;)

  9. I was a lot more daring when I was younger - snorkeling on the Great Barrier Reef, climbing a waterfall in Jamaica...these days, I court disaster by climbing the basement stairs with laundry in my hands while the cats run up and down. That's pretty scary. I would probably do the snake thing, but I draw the line at eating bugs.

  10. Eating bugs, skydiving, wearing snakes around the neck, snorkling, etc,...well, that I don't do them doesn't make a non-risk-taker because I don't have any interest in doing them.

The real non-risk-taker is the person who wants to do _______ yet allows her fear of _________ to hold her back.

I love reasoning away my cowardice. :-)

  11. I like adventure as long as it doesn't involve jumping off or out of anything. It also must never involve snakes either.

If it involved water I am their - swimming, scuba, snorkeling, kayaking.. I have never tried surfing though.

  13. I'm something of a wuss so I wouldn't be doing any skydiving or anything physically daring.

I can deal with trying new foods, etc. That's about as adventurous as I get!

  14. Not a risk taker, a step later makes my head swim.

But I've eaten raw fish. Okay-okay it was sushi but it was still raw.

  15. I'm definitely a travel and food risk taker--I'll try anything once. And I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty. I'm also not afraid of heights, so if I needed to sky dive, I think I could--but I don't really get why anyone would do it for fun. That rush of adrenaline doesn't do much for me. It's why I don't particularly like to gamble, either. Wouldn't it be quicker to just flush the money down the toilet?
