Finishing something is one of the greatest feelings in the world. The sense of accomplishment rocks. I know this first hand because yesterday I finished the first draft of something I've been calling my sooper seekrit project.
Now the real fun begins.
See, I'm not one of those writers who loves the blank page, the fresh creation, the discovery of the characters. I'm the type who loves to take what's been created and mold it and shape it into something better.
And the feeling when that editing and polishing is done? Nothing like it, baby!
When's the last time you finished something? What was it?
January, when I finished the first draft of this WIP. Since then it's been nothing but editing - but if I push I should be done with that by the end of the weekend. Go me. ;o)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on finishing your sooper sekrit project. I know you love the editing. Have fun! =o)
I finished my wip last month and it felt good because I'd really been struggling with the story. Like you, I love the revisions and editing. Sometimes they're hard, but mostly I enjoy going in and fixing/pruning stuff.
ReplyDeleteSo where are the donuts? *grin*
I finished a whole box of Cadbury Creme Eggs at Easter...now that's an accomplishment! ROFL
ReplyDeleteI'm the same as you--I dig editing more than drafting most of the time. Congrats on finishing!!!! Glory in the delicious feeling of it. :D
I finished my chapter 3 last week...
ReplyDeleteBut yeah. I don't like a blank canvas either. I like to edit and shape the story.
Congrats on finishing. I know that feels gooooood!
I want to know more about the sooper sekrit project.
ReplyDeleteSecrets! Secrets! I know what it is...you finally got the cabana boy and he's staying all summer at your pool. Am I right? Am I right?
ReplyDeleteCongrats on finishing.
